Shatha Rizk Batayneh

Shatha Rizk Batayneh is a passionate and mostly self-taught painter who studied art intermittently as she has a Masters degree in Political Sociology, worked in a school administration and later on in the field of translation whilst attending to her family and social commitments. She is now a full time painter at her own studio.

Shatha took many art courses with renowned and accomplished artists and attended two summer programs for Portraiture and Figure at Florence Academy of Art in Italy.

She solely exhibited her paintings in Muscat/Oman, and participated in a number of local and international exhibitions. Driven by an eagerness to learn and develop, Shatha experimented with different art method. “I found myself in contemporary Expressionism”, she said, “specifically in semi-realistic figurative art essentially based on utilizing the imagination and reality to create unique subjective worlds that encompass the figures and produce varying effects on people”. “My own dilemma”, she admits, “lies in improving and developing my dexterity and techniques in order to relay the effect I seek as powerfully as possible, whilst exploring different forms of harmony and color relations; always in pursuit of excellence”.
This all resulted in more than one hundred and fifty paintings throughout her career.
