Ruba Abu Shousheh
Ms. Abu-Shousheh holds a Master’s Degree ( 2013) in Traditional Islamic Art from the Islamic art and Architecture Institute/World Islamic Science University in Jordan, where she taught as a member of the faculty of the Islamic Art and Architecture department , in the disciplines of biomorphic design , freehand drawing , Geometry. Ms. Abu-Shousheh also conducts freelance courses locally and is regularly invited abroad to lead artists workshops and residencies.
Ms. Abu-Shousheh has participated in numerous exhibitions in several countries and won several distinctions and awards for her work. In Ms. Abu-Shousheh Traditional Art, she combines various mediums and styles to reflect the higher concepts and symbols from her individual perspective and interpretation.
In Ms. Abu-Shousheh freehand landscapes she depicts the sky of Amman, rendered in harmonious hues that reflect the sharp outlines of a cityscape below. She paints of a spiritual connection between the ground and the sky in her “Stairs of Amman” series.
Works produced towards the end of the year of 2018 were more expressive of an elevated meaning and symbolism, culminating in a solo exhibition entitled “Glowing Horizon”. Several workshops ensued in Amman and Morocco, where she was one of four artists to be selected and invited to participate in the annual international “Empowering Women Through Painting and Writing” seminar. In 2012 Ms. Abu-Shousheh received the highest award for her painting, entitled “Sky of Amman”. She also participated in “The Sharing Artistic Workshop” at the Academy of Visual Arts , Leipzig, German, 2007.
