Abbas Yousif

Born in 1960, Abbas Yousif is a Bahraini artist and writer based in Bahrain. He received his Bachelors degree in Arabic literature from Qatar University in 1982. His work is influenced by his interest in literature, poetry and Sufi texts. In Abbas Yousif’s paintings reside an interaction of thinking, vision and application through the rhythmic composition of the vague and the abstract. He explores areas as wide as painting, calligraphy, printmaking, bookmaking and collage making. Abbas has exhibited consistently for over two decades both nationally and internationally. Notable acquisitions of his paintings include: King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Saudi Arabia), Al Salam Bank (Bahrain), Central Michigan University (USA), Montblanc (Dubai), Bahrain National Museum (Bahrain), National Museum of Damascus (Syria), The British National Museum (UK), The National Museum of Sharjah (UAE), The National Council for Culture, Arts & Literature (Kuwait), The Jordan Museum (Jordan), Arab Museum of Modern Art (Qatar), Museum 4th Block (Ukraine), Museum of Modern Art (Barcelona), and Cultural Foundation (UAE). Abbas Yousif is also an art writer with various editorial contributions to magazines and reviews up to the present day.
