The name ‘Jodar’ stems from Jordan-Dar [Dar (Noun); a house in Arabic] and the symbolism of Home; the space, the place, the identity, and the womb.

The essence of the ample place deeply linked to the material, and the relaxed encouraging atmosphere of the serene neighborhood leaves an enduring mark on the spirit, which keeps Jodar’s passion fueled toward helping artists with their career development and introducing their work to the world.

Since its inception in 2018, Jodar Artistry has been a home for creative minds, artists, and aestheticians from all walks of life. The idea of Jodar embarked out of necessity, it came to life as a reflection of the founder’s belief that Arab artists possess a powerful tool that is capable of dismantling the social boundaries.

Art unites us all, it is a universal language that needs no interpretation, it can travel effortlessly beyond borders. Says artist Raida Shahin, managing founder of Jodar.

It is at the core of the entwined missions of Jodar to bridge the gap between artists; local, regional, prominent, and emerging, and to foster the Arab artists and the international audience in one cultural hub, thusly, 2021 will witness the inauguration of our new online gallery platform. We aim at making the art-buying process as simple, affordable, and enjoyable as possible. Ambitiously, we look toward playing a pivotal role in drawing international attention towards Arab Art.

Supporting emerging artists and nurturing new talents has been at the heart of Jodar Artistry’s mission since the very beginning. Recognizing and strongly believe in the importance of supporting young creatives bursting with new ideas in getting a well-deserved debut in the art scene. Embracing the work of tens of rising-to-stardom artists, Jodar pledged themselves to empower emerging artists at the start of their careers, brimming with dynamism, innovation, and enthusiasm.

Jodar provides a contemporary voice for the arts in Amman, through diverse artist-curated exhibitions, empowering local and regional artists, showcasing their work either in group or solo exhibitions, supplemented by talks, pop-ups, workshops, talks, multileveled art classes, and community events. Also, Jodar actively participates in international fairs and exhibitions, collaborating with public museums, public and private entities, foundations, and embassies.
